LAUL Workforce Development focuses on the reduction of unemployment across LA County through the myriad of offerings including: personal development of job seekers, skill building, vocational and technical training commensurate with current and future demands.
Our aim is to provide resources and educational opportunities for the community to get people working. On a national level, the unemployment rate for African Americans is 9.6% and LAUL is on it! Thanks to a partnership with Walsh/Shea Construction, LAUL developed the Construction Career Information Center to provide a full range of self-service information including: Career Pathways and introductions to the California Building Trades. Additionally, enrolled participants are eligible to receive support services in the form of transportation, union dues, and tools. Curricular topics include: Emotional Intelligence; Construction Math, Measurements and Knots; Interview Technique and Workplace Retention Skills.
Armed with the necessary tools, graduates are ready to get out and build the infrastructure for their success.
Enrollment for the Summer 2017 Cohort begins in May.
