The Los Angeles Urban League is one of eight recipients of the LA Resilience Champions Fund Grant as announced today by the LA28 Organizing Committee. The grant period for this initiative starts now, designed to invest in nonprofit organizations committed to “building a more resilient Los Angeles for generations to come.”
The LA Urban League is being recognized for its prompt response and action following the devastating California wildfires in 2025 and its continued commitment to residents and businesses adversely affected. President & CEO Cynthia Mitchell-Heard and Programs Vice President Robert Zardeneta attended the announcement recognizing the awardees today.
This announcement continues a surge of momentum for the Los Angeles Urban League in 2026. In February the organization received recognition from the City of Los Angeles for helping shape public policy and economic opportunity. Last month the National Urban League announced the LA Urban League will be the host chapter for the 2027 Annual Conference, as planning continues for the organization’s 51st Whitney M. Young gala next month. This year marks LA Urban League’s 105th anniversary.
