Community Inititiative Programs

Meeting Urgent Needs. Building Lasting Pathways.

Empower Communities. Build Legacies. Drive Change.

At the Los Angeles Urban League, our Community Initiatives represent focused, responsive efforts designed to meet critical needs facing our communities while advancing long-term equity, stability, and opportunity.

These initiatives complement our core Pillar Programs of Advocacy, Education, Entrepreneurship, and Workforce Development. They are launched when urgent conditions, systemic disruptions, or emerging opportunities require targeted action beyond traditional program structures.

Community Initiatives are grounded in the same values that guide all of our work: equity, dignity, access, and community-centered solutions.

Health Equity & Access Series

Health equity begins with access to trusted information, meaningful conversation, and community-centered care. The Los Angeles Urban League Health Access & Equity Series are educational webinars formed by initiative created to inform, empower, and connect communities around some of today’s most pressing health issues.

Presented in partnership with Genentech, the series brings together medical experts, advocates, caregivers, and community voices to explore topics ranging from early diagnosis and treatment to patient experience and access to care. Each session is designed to expand knowledge, strengthen community connection, and support more equitable health outcomes for those we serve.

Transportation Access

Reliable transportation is essential to employment, education, and economic mobility. Our Transportation Access initiative removes logistical barriers that prevent individuals and families from reaching jobs, training programs, healthcare, and essential services.

Fire Respond, Recover, and Rebuild

In response to wildfire disasters impacting Los Angeles communities, our Fire Recovery initiative supports affected residents through relief, recovery, and stabilization efforts. This work centers on financial security, workforce re-entry, and long-term rebuilding with dignity and care.
