Los Angeles Urban League has teamed-up with Parkside EDC to create a program designed to increase opportunities for economic empowerment and help stem the erosion of wealth among Black families in the Greater Los Angeles Community. Black Wealth Attainment and Retention Program (BWAARP) will provide seminars and training on the following Legacy Wealth Building Strategies, thus contributing to a financially secure and consciously sustainable community.

Kendra Ward is the Co-founder of unboXt, Inc., a platform that enables team leaders to leverage personalized insights to improve team motivation, morale, and performance. Their customers include United Parcel Service, Amazon, Comcast, and YWCA San-Gabriel.  

Kendra is a Gates Millennium Scholar and attained a dual degree in Math and Industrial & Information Systems Engineering from Spelman College and The University of Southern California, respectively. She is very passionate about developing the leaders of tomorrow.

Hakeem is the Co-founder of unboXt, Inc., a platform focused on improving the employee / manager relationship.   

Hakeem Issac is a former investment banker and passionate entrepreneur who is dedicated to ensuring future generations have equity and belonging in the workplace. He earned his Accounting degree from Morehouse College and was professionally trained by the likes of Goldman Sachs, PricewaterhouseCooper, and Fifth Third Bank.

John T. Fleming is a student, researcher, and advocate of micro enterprise opportunities that enable flexibility in how and when work can be accomplished. His many years of involvement with the direct selling business model includes experience as an independent contractor, owner of a direct selling company, officer, and pacesetter within one of the world’s largest direct selling companies, Publisher/Editor- in- Chief of Direct Selling News, Consultant, Speaker and Writer.

John is author of Ultimate Gig, published by Emerald Publishing. The book was recognized as sole finalist in the category of Business, Finance & Management for 2022 PROSE Awards sponsored by American Publishers Association.

Rosalund D. Gale

Rosalund grew up in Seattle Washington where she naturally gravitated towards the service industry. She began helping people make connections and attain needed information as a telephone operator while in High School. While attending the University of Washington and working as an Administrative Assistant for Boeing, she got the travel bug and accepted an opportunity to see the world as a Flight Attendant. During her down time while flying she used her wit and charm the become one of the top sales reps for Scholastic Educational Products.

Ros, uses her acquired people skills and attention to detail, to turn an unused private space connected to her home, into thousands of dollars of incremental revenue.

Monica D. Higgins

Growing up, Monica helped her parents manage and renovate distressed income properties. She saw first-hand the transformative positive impact that facility updates and upgrades had on the lives of residents. And, she also witnessed the painful consequences when an unscrupulous contractor ripped her mother off on a major project. Monica knows all too well that changing your house is a deeply personal and stressful experience.

Monica previously helped people find new homes as a licensed real estate agent before she founded Renovation Planners, a construction management firm dedicated to helping homeowners avoid remodeling horror stories. Monica holds an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.

Noel Massie

Noel Massie is Board Chair Emeritus of LAUL. Noel Massie began his UPS career in 1977 in Oakland, California. Currently, he serves as President of the Central California District of UPS and is responsible for all operations, customer relationship management, and revenue management of nearly $2 billion annually. The District employs nearly 11,000 employees and serves over 80,000 customers daily. Over the years, Noel has served in many capacities within the organization and in locations all around the country. His experience includes work in daily operations, engineering, learning and development, and even working in Atlanta at UPS’s Corporate Headquarters.

Darrell Brown – Darrell has over 47 years of extensive experience in diverse leadership and management roles within the banking world. He is an outspoken advocate for identifying new markets for individual customers and businesses with various financial needs. Post his retirement as Senior Vice President for the Southern California Region of U.S. Bank, Darrell remains active as an agent for change and economic parity in underserved communities.
