Black Wealth Attainment and Retention Program (BWAARP) will provide seminars and training on the following Legacy Wealth Building Strategies, thus contributing to a financially secure and consciously sustainable community.

Anita D’Aguilar

Anita D’Aguilar, Financial Advisor’s values are driven by strategies that drive positive social impacts. Her mission is to assist clients in becoming good stewards of their wealth by incorporating their values and principles. She also shares her personal vision and passion.

Anita has over 20 years of experience in Finance and Wealth Management Services. Her education includes a B.S. from the University of Redlands, an MBA in Finance from University of La Verne and a Certificate in Financial Management at Pepperdine Graziadio School of Business Management.

J.P. Hamlett, Sr. is President & CEO of Advanced Planning Strategies (APS) and helps CPAs to increase their Value Proposition when working with their Business owners and high-net-worth clients.  At APS, Mr. Hamlett provides accountants with the necessary tools and advanced planning strategies to increase their client’s profitability and net worth. As such, he has created a system and process to help business owners identify comprehensive financial planning strategies with their accountants that result in a more proactive and holistic approach to business advisory services. 

Mr. Hamlett is also the founder and Senior Partner at Retirement Choices of California (RCC), where his biggest priority is to evaluate the current needs of business owners and individuals to address their financial objectives, including retirement, insurance, and estate planning. Nicole Franklin

Award-winning filmmaker Nicole Franklin got a tip from two entertainment industry friends that before she does anything else, “buy some cryptocurrency.” As a freelance writer, director, editor and journalist in film and television for more than 30 years, who better to take the risk? Nicole studied up and made small crypto purchases in 2017 and by September 2018 she was featured in an Ebony magazine article written by Mel Hopkins titled “Coin Collector.”

Today she is the proud Co-founder and Founding Chief Operating Officer of the fintech company 3QualiTy, an easy solution to charitable giving through crypto. She also hosts online courses for the crypto curious. In this venture of 3QualiTy where “Every Human is Equal,” Nicole brings the same passion she has for producing her creative projects through her independent film and digital media company EPIPHANY Inc.

Rick Williamson, PhD

Dr. Rick Williamson artfully adapts research supported psychotherapy techniques to fit each client’s unique need.  He is trained in dynamic therapy, as well as in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), proven effective for a variety of emotional issues.

Committed to understanding the whole person, Dr. Williamson brings a deep understanding of how life situations, culture and beliefs impact a person’s psyche and wellbeing.  His areas of specialty include assessment and treatment of mood problems, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, personal growth and development, organizational consulting, and psychological testing.

Gaining knowledge in the process of integrating the psyche with faith, Dr. Williamson conducts psychological assessments for clergy and consults with other organizations to help them create cultures that enhance the emotional health and vitality of their personnel.

Dr. Williamson earned a (B.A.) from Princeton University; and a (M.A.) in Theology and (Ph.D.) in Clinical Psychology from the Fuller Graduate School of Psychology. He performed his Clinical Psychology Internship at Howard University and APA Post-doctoral Research Fellowship at UCLA.

Serria Rego

Serria Rego is a Registered Representative at Transamerica Financial Advisors, Inc.

Serria builds her practice by prospecting with professional associations such as the LA County Bar Association, Small Business Association, and the Minority Business Opportunity Council and is currently expanding her list.

She is a speaker for the Small Business Association, Minority Opportunity Council, and is currently expanding her list through association with professional organizations.

Ms. Rego obtained her B.S. in Finance from  Bradley University and is founder of Black Wealth Matters, an Educational Series that describes the ways Black Wealth is impacted by Systemic Racism and ways that we can fight it.

Shirley Worrels

Shirley Worrels is a Native of Los Angeles and completed her BS in Psychology and  Masters in Hospital Administration.  She was employed at Kaiser Permanente and retired after 30-plus years of service as an administrator overseeing operations for several primary care departments.

She has transferred her acquired knowledge and skills to serve and advocate for her community.  Shirley has served as a California State Commissioner on the Naturopathic Medicine Committee, the oversight commission for naturopath practice in California.  She currently serves as the President of the Baldwin Hills Estates HOA and Scholarship Committee Chair for Parkside Economic Development Corporation. She also served as campaign coordinator for Mayor Karen Bass’ successful run.

Shirley belongs to a stock investment group comprised of 27 African American Women. For over 25 years, the group has used stock investing as a mechanism to create a path to sustain wealth for themselves and their families.

Derek Williams, MD

Dr. Derek F. Williams is a board-certified family practice physician in Hawthorne, CA. Noted by his patients as a very good listener, Dr. Williams cares for the whole family. He brings years of expertise addressing the health concerns of adolescents, women, men and the often-complex issues of aging. He values the whole person – body, mind, and spirit and empowers his patients through personal wellness and preventive lifestyles.

Dr. Williams graduated from the University of Missouri Medical School and completed his Residency and Fellowship at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He is currently a Family Medicine Specialist at Providence Health Care in Hawthorne, CA.

John T. Fleming is a student, researcher, and advocate of micro enterprise opportunities that enable flexibility in how and when work can be accomplished. His many years of involvement with the direct selling business model includes experience as an independent contractor, owner of a direct selling company, officer, and pacesetter within one of the world’s largest direct selling companies, Publisher/Editor- in- Chief of Direct Selling News, Consultant, Speaker and Writer.

John is author of Ultimate Gig, published by Emerald Publishing. The book was recognized as sole finalist in the category of Business, Finance & Management for 2022 PROSE Awards sponsored by American Publishers Association.
