Construction Career Academy
What You Will Learn
Written Exam Prep
We will cover construction math concepts that you will use everyday on the job through entry level algebra and geometry to spatial analysis and mechanical principals.
Oral Exam Prep
We will prepare students for the traditional panel style interviews conducted by the majority of Building Trades. This will be done in the classroom, one-on-one, as well as mock interviews.
Soft Skills
Students will learn the necessary soft skills and worksite safety protocols needed to successfully navigate and excel through the various union apprenticeship programs.
Your Instructors
James T. Mitchell
James T Mitchell has over thirty years of experience in the industrial training management field. This includes personnel screening and selection, union construction entrance exam preparation, labor market research and analysis, vocational counseling and industrial training program development for all 26 construction trades. He also has experience in teaching mathematics, student counseling and clinical psychology. The industries Mr. Mitchell has served include: construction (both industrial and residential), heavy manufacturing, oil refining, shipyards, transportation and military. His formal education includes a bachelor of arts in psychology and sociology as well as a master of science in psychology from Tennessee State University.
