Driver Training Program

One Week Training

Monday, November 30 – Friday, December 4

Training includes 40 hours of classroom instruction, driving practice, and safety/operational training.

Persons completing the training will be hired as full-time, temporary workers until mid-January, at which point they will be interviewed for permanent positions as drivers, warehouse workers, or other roles. Permanent placement is not guaranteed, but this is one of the best pathways to full-time, union employment at UPS.

Trainees will earn about $25/hour to start. Full-time drivers in the union can earn $37/hour

Requirements include:

1. An acceptable DMV driving record
2. Ability to drive a manual transmission strongly preferred
3. Comfort driving large trucks
4. Ability to pass a drug screen

The training takes place in the Inland Empire. If needed, Los Angeles Urban League can provide candidates with transportation or housing assistance during the week of training.
