Submission Deadline

All application materials must be submitted electronically by May 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM PST. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

Selection and Notification

Scholarship recipients will be notified via email, and awards will be formally presented at an upcoming LA Black Graduation Event.

IMPORTANT: APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

The Los Angeles Urban League is committed to advancing educational equity by providing scholarship opportunities to students who demonstrate academic potential, community involvement, and a commitment to personal and professional growth. To be considered for a scholarship award, applicants must meet the following criteria and submission requirements:

Eligibility Requirements

  • Residency: Must reside in Los Angeles County.
  • Academic Standing: Must be a current high school senior with a minimum GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Enrollment: Must be enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited college, university, trade school, or vocational training program for the upcoming academic year.
  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or DACA recipient.

Application Materials

Applicants must submit the following documents by the stated deadline:

  • Completed Online Application Forms (Scholarship Application & Project Ready Application)
  • Personal Statement (300-500 words) addressing academic goals, community involvement, financial need, and career aspirations.
  • Official or Unofficial Transcript from most recent academic institution.
  • One Letter of Recommendation from a teacher, counselor, employer, or community leader.
  • Proof of College Acceptance or Enrollment (if available).
  • Resume highlighting academic achievements, extracurricular activities, leadership roles, volunteer service, and work experience.

Evaluation Criteria

Applications will be evaluated based on the following:

  • Academic performance and potential
  • Community service and leadership
  • Clarity and quality of personal statement
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Strength of recommendation letter
