On Tuesday, March 1, the Los Angeles Urban League will host a Career Fair at Baldwin Hills Mall from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. More than 30 employers that have demonstrated a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and providing opportunities will be on-site. We applaud these organizations for joining us as we continue our work to strengthen families and empower our communities through workforce development, training, and job placement.
We look forward to working with our hiring partners beyond Tuesday’s event to help them grow their organizations and provide pathways to rewarding careers.
When it comes to diversity and inclusion in the workforce, it is not just about checking a box with a diversity hire. Numerous studies have shown that diverse companies perform better and are more profitable, and inclusive teams perform 30% better in high-diversity environments. Generationally speaking, 83% of millennials are more engaged when diversity and inclusion initiatives are supported. Statistics show that a diverse and inclusive work environment creates a sense of belonging. When employees feel more connected, they work harder and more collaboratively, producing higher quality work. As a result, organizations that implement such practices see improvements in business results, innovation, and decision-making.
For 100 years Los Angeles Urban League has been connecting people to jobs and providing pathways to careers with living wages. Since our inception in 1921, when our founding Executive Secretary, Ms. Katherin Barr, and Dr. A. C. Garrott, opened an employment office at 102 S. Spring Street in Downtown Los Angeles, our organization has provided jobs and dignity through self-reliance. The Los Angeles Urban League continues this legacy through existing job training programs in construction, entertainment, healthcare, and logistics. We will continue evolving and adapting our delivery models as necessary to serve our communities.
As we emerge from the latest COVID variant, 2022 promises to be a great year for job seekers and employers looking to expand their teams. We look forward to hosting our South Los Angeles community at our upcoming career fair. Even if you are not searching for a new career, chances are you know someone who is. Either way, we invite you to join us this coming Tuesday. Job seekers can register at https://laul.org/career-fair.
We look forward to seeing you this Tuesday.
