Elections matter. As we have learned from the past, elections have the power to change the course of history. Voter turnout for midterm elections is historically lower than in general elections, but midterm elections are just as important as general elections. Between now and November 8, Californians will head to the polls or mail in their ballots to decide who will represent us in the city, county, state, and federal government matters. In addition to voting for candidates competing for office, voters will decide on several local and state propositions that will affect us all. If you choose not to vote, you will silence your voice and delegate your power to someone you do not know.
The ballot also includes several propositions and measures that will impact our communities. These propositions include protecting the right to reproductive freedom, funding arts and music education for our youth, banning the sale of flavored tobacco products, and financing much-needed housing for the neediest members of our community. We at the Los Angeles Urban League encourage our community to vote YES on the measures.
If you choose not to vote, you will silence your voice and delegate your power to someone you do not know.
Make this midterm election count. Ensure that your vote will be counted and encourage your neighbors, friends, cousins, and other networks of eligible voters to do the same and cast their ballot on or before November 8.
